Sundial – the most natural and truest measurement device of time flow. Looking at the „Book of Time“ you can see what is the exact solar time in Klaipėda at the given moment. Not that one, which is destined for us by artificial time zones and that is shown by usual watches, but real, natural, given by the Nature.

The principle of operation of the Sundial-calendar is as simple and perfect as the Universe itself.

From the gnomon – a triangular-shaped arrow which is parallel to the axis of the Earth, the shadow of the Sun‘s rays falls on the sundial (which is vertical to the north-south and parallel to the east west directions). At any hour graduation is a shadow – such a so-called solar hour is in this place.

Furthermore, the infallible Sun shows calendar time of nature, as well as the upcoming summer or winter solstice, and equinox of spring and autumn.

At midday, when the Sun‘s ray stops at XII o‘clock, the length of the shadow indicates in what sign of the Zodiac we are and what season of year is now.

Calendar marks are arranged on the vertical line under the gnomon.
