The constructions of Klaipėda Summer Open-Air Stage commenced on 15 July 1977 in the forest near the Tuberculosis Dispensary.
The full amphitheatre-shaped Summer Open-Air Stage was completed in 1983, featuring a 60 m long and 32 m wide ellipse-shaped area for dancing and games. This construction is one of the works, initiated by the legendary Mayor Alfonsas Žalys. The architect was Juozas Baltrėnas and the Construction Engineer – Vincas Žemaitis.
Nearby the modern-day Summer Open-Air Stage there also was the old shooting range, dating to the pre-war times, featuring the entire complex of fields, ditches and constructions of brick and concrete. They were destroyed in the Soviet era during the construction of the Summer Open-Air Stage. Some remains can still be found today.
The Summer Open-Air Stage hosts regional and state song festivals, concerts, festivals and other events. It also hosted the first meetings of the Reform Movement of Lithuania and Marches of the Rock Music.
