Monument For Those, Who Died for the Freedom of Fatherland

The memorial tombstone, dedicated for the partisans, found buried in various locations of this pinewood, located in the north-eastern part of Šilalė, was opened and consecrated on 24 August 2003. The author of the monument is Titas Žymančius.
The search for the bodies of the desecrated partisans was conducted in 2001 by the initiative of Pranas Gedmontas, Chairman of Šilalė Department of the Lithuanian Union of Political Prisoners and Deportees, with the help of Titas Žymančius, members of the Riflemen’s Union and political prisoners (Alfonsas Jašinskis, Zofija and Petras Baranauskai, Petras Briedis and others). Archaeologists have found about 10 ditches, but only two of them contained human remains. The place of reburial was marked with a monument with the following:
