Biržos street – one of the oldest streets of Klaipėda. During the Second World War this part of the city has violently suffered and almost everything has been destroyed. So after the war, Biržos bridge has been restored from a different angle, and Tiltų street was connected directly with H. Manto street.
Biržos street was continuation of Friedricho Vilhelmo street‘s line. Previously Biržos street did turn to the right and together with other streets – Alexander (current – Liepų str) and Libauer (current – Herkaus Manto str) created an intersection.
In Biržos street there were located Trading Exchange and Old Post, which were destroyed during the Second World War; as well there was located Zybert‘s publishing house, where editorial office of newspaper „Memeler Dampfboot“ was based.
On the other side of the street – Savings bank. These buildings have survived until now.
