The foundations of Karklė church

Karklė Church, built in 1910, was the highlight of the entire area – the view of the church was a very popular motif on tourist cards. After the war the church was demolished by the newcomers, which saw it merely as a source of free building materials. What is left now is only its foundations, overgrown with bushes and shrubs. Recently increasing Lutheran community aiming to recover the historical truth, are seeking to rebuild the church. In order to mark this location the community of Karklė have built here a cross, forged in the local style.
