Cenotaph-monument to crew of missing ship “Linkuva”

On 21 June 2000 during a fierce Pacific hurricane18 seafarers of transport refrigerator “Linkuva” lost their lives. In the old city cemetery (now SculpturePark) a monument-cenotaph is built in memoriam of them. In granite slab there are carved names of 18 crew members, and near, on the obelisk – the globe and coordinates indicating the location of the death of the crew – the captain Anatolyj Bobrov managed to notify them. Author of the monument – Gintautas Jonkus. Architect – Vytenis Mazurkevičius.
