The Kretinga Manor Park Stone of Countess Sofija

The Kretinga Manor Summer Garden became a representative location within the territory of Count Juozapas Tiškevičius. The guests of the manor and tourists from Palanga and Prussia used to take leisurely walks around the park.

A large stone can be found in the north-eastern bank of the first pond. Since the boulder is on the surface of the earth, it is believed that it was transported here from another location. The stone looks like a table because of its flat side facing upwards.

Countess Sofija Tiškevičienė took care of the orphanage and hospital, so the employees of the Kretinga Museum decided to honour the charitable actions of the countess and to diversify their educational programmes by naming the stone Sofija’s Stone of Feasts, as it is believed that the stone was where Sofija treated the children of the servants to sweets and other treats.
