On June 6th, 1927, the city of Klaipėda, along with the entire Lithuania Minor, celebrated the Lithuania Minor Song Festival. It was the first festival that was celebrated after the historic events of 1923.
The 80 year anniversary of the Lithuania Minor Song Festival was celebrated on June 17th, 2007. To commemorate this occasion, a memorial stone, signifying the 80 year anniversary of the Lithuania Minor Song Contest, was placed next to the Klaipėda Summer Dome. 85 different choirs from all over Lithuania as well as around 30 folk dance, ethnic adult and children’s ensembles, brass instrument orchestras, folk music capellas, folk artists and amateur theatres came to celebrate the anniversary of the Song Festival.
