The House of Eduard Gerlach

The house at 10 Herkaus Manto street was built in the second half of the 18th century. It is a single floor classic-style building with a garret and a modern mansard-style roof. The building is not stylistically unified as it has elements that pertain to styles such as Baroque and Classicism.
This building used to belong to a famous Klaipėda city wood trader, named Eduard Gerlach. In 1913, when his father Eduard Gottlieb Gerlach passed away, he took over in managing his father’s company JJG and established an office in this building. Presently, the editorial of Vakarų ekspresas can be found there.
